In this video, Ayla Tesler-Mabe and Sami Ghawi will attempt to learn a pop song on the fly. The Guitareo Team has secretly chosen a song that neither of the two has ever played before. Ayla and Sami will have to listen to the song and decipher the chord changes, the melody, and the lyrics so they can perform it together at the end of the video. The song that we chose was “As It Was” by Harry Styles.
Just like in many other pop songs, “As It Was” uses solely diatonic chords and can be played with a variety of standard strumming patterns. The chords used in this song are D major, B minor, E major, and A major, all of which belong to the key of A major.
