We all love guitar pedals. We might even go as far as saying we can’t live without them. Ayla Tesler-Mabe is back, and this time, she’s showcasing her favorite pedals she simply can’t live without.
As she maps out the effects that live on her board, she demonstrates the different sounds they make on their own or combined with other effects. She provides you a rundown of where and when she’d use certain pedals that add to her unique tone. To dial in her tone when playing masterful riffs and licks in this video, Ayla uses the following pedals:
Reverb adds more life and dimension to your guitar tone. It’s an effect you will see on almost every pedalboard.
Tremolo changes the volume signal of your guitar signal to give it a unique “underwater” effect.
The chorus pedal doubles your guitar sound to make it sound like there’s more than one playing together, just like a chorus (go figure)!
Phaser provides your guitar with n arena rock tone, perfect for guitar players inspired by Eddie Van Halen. Ayla pairs it with her tremolo pedal to get a cool effect that sets the tone apart from traditional phaser effects.
Similar to a wah pedal, the envelope filter changes the frequencies, but without having to control it with your foot.
Handmade in Arizona, this overdrive pedal is extremely versatile and provides a huge tone to your playing.
Another handmade overdrive pedal — this one is from Vancouver, B.C. When paired with the other overdrive pedal, it produces a large, full, tone perfect for shredding lead parts.
This pedal adds an effect that’s an octave higher or lower than what your original guitar sound is. It’ll make one chord you’re playing sound like you’re playing three.
It gets your guitar in perfect tune, what else could you want?
By the end of the video, you’ll be inspired to create your own tone and discover pedals that you can’t live without.
